This unique home has a stairway housed inside a silo shaped structure. The original cedar siding on the silo was completely rotted and in need of a replacement. So, the homeowners called us to perform a residing job. In only four days our team had removed all of the damaged wood siding and replaced it with new azek siding, and painted it.
Cedar siding is quite common, but just like all wooden materials it has the potential to rot and deteriorate when constantly exposed to the elements. This home’s silo had cedar tongue and groove siding. We removed all of the cedar siding so we could replace it with a more suitable material.
The cedar siding was completely rotted. Therefore, the first step was to remove all of the cedar siding from the silo. Additionally, to prevent future rotting and water related damage our team would replace the cedar tongue and groove siding with new composite tongue and groove siding. Azek is a great choice for exterior projects since it is a moisture resistant, composite material. Once all of the siding was removed the entire silo was wrapped with tyvek to add a layer of protection.
We installed the new azek tongue and groove siding once the silo was completely wrapped with tyvek.
Once the azek siding was in place the entire structure was given a new paint job.
In only four days this silo was fixed from the inside out! Replacing the rotting cedar siding not only improves the look of this home but also helps ensure that it is a strong, healthy home; not to mention the new paint job really makes this portion of the home pop!
Another great project by our team at Monk’s!
