The owners of this Basking Ridge, NJ home were looking to transform their existing screened in porch into a new family room. They called in our team at Monk’s to entirely enclose, winterize, and transform this space.
Here you see the screened in porch before Monk’s completed the addition.
Here you see the new home addition, completed by Monk’s in only 8 weeks.
Our team at Monk’s completely installed new windows and doors in this space. New sheet rock was installed for the walls. The room also had to be insulated, ensuring that this space could be enjoyed during all seasons.
A new bead board ceiling was installed, while leaving the existing exposed beams in place.
Heat was also run to the room. Our team at Monk’s ran a new line from the home’s existing steam heat source into the newly added family room. A new platform was installed to rest the wood burning stove on.
Our team at Monk’s also installed hardwood oak floors to match with the existing floors in the rest of the house. The new floors were actually raised to make the new room level with the rest of the house; making for smooth transitions between rooms.
On top of all of the changes that were made to this home’s porch , our team at Monk’s also took down walls to open up spaces and help the new enclosure flow naturally into the rest of the home. This wall into the kitchen was removed for the final renovation.
As you can see from this photograph, taken prior to the renovation, the wall between the former porch and house were also altered to make way for the many changes in store for this home.
All of the hard work and changes were worth it! As you cans see from the photos below, a beautiful new family room was born from the old screened in porch.
Another great job done by Monk’s!
