The beautiful Boisaubin Manor on Treadwell Avenue in Madison, NJ is a historic home with a great story. However, the entry gate at the bottom of the long driveway was rotting and literally falling apart.

As you can see from the photos that the wood that wraps the posts was rotted and beyond repair.

We first removed the motorized gate. Then we removed all the wood from the posts. We replaced the wood with durable and long-lasting Azek. Azek is a composite material that looks like wood but won’t rot.

In 3 days, we had reconstructed the posts with Azek and had them looking as good as ever.

Lastly, for a little more about the home, courtesy of “The Boisaubin House”, NJ Historical Commission, 1978

The Boisaubin Manor was built around 1790 and is on the National Register of Historic Houses. In 1853 the manor was sold to Alfred Treadwell. Treadwell was an avid abolitionist and supporter of the Underground Railroad. One of the manor’s porch columns is hollow and contains a stairway which led to a cave and connected to the estate’s barn. During the civil war days, the tunnel was equipped with hollowed alcoves for sleeping, as well as wiring for a telegraph communications system.
