Location: Summit, NJ 07901
Timeline: 4 days
After decades of exposure to rain, wind, and sun, and little maintenance performed, this detached garage was in need of some attention. The owners of this Summit, NJ home called in our team at Monk’s to perform a full exterior paint job on this garage, bringing it back to life in only four days.
Detached Garage Painting
When a structure, such as this garage, has not been painted for an ample period of time, a simple repainting will not do. In order to effectively bond the new primer and paint to the building our team sands the entire structure down to 95% bare wood. Only once the bare wood is exposed can our team give the structure a proper paint job.
Besides a new paint job it was decided that this garage would also need its rotting trim taken off and replaced with composite, a moisture resistant material. In addition to the rotting trim, a glass pane of one of these windows was also broken. Replacing the entire window would be expensive, and the homeowners were hoping there would be a less expensive alternative. Our innovative team at Monk’s was able to remove and repair only the broken pane. Once the broken pane was taken our our team had a new pane of glass cut, and glazed. The new pane was then installed, sparing the cost of replacing the entire window.
Next, we started the exterior paint job. We gave the entire garage two coats of primer. Once both coats of primer had dried our team applied two coats of exterior paint.
After four days of hard work our team not only erased years of wear, but also performed important maintenance on this garage.
Another great project completed by our team at Monk’s!
