Painting a Newly Purchased Home

Scope of Work:  Wallpaper removal, Interior painting
Timeline: 2 1/2 weeks
Location: Madison, NJ

It is very common for new homebuyers to want to make cosmetic changes to their newly purchased home. The most typical changes are interior painting and floor refinishing. We tackled both these projects and more for these Madison, NJ homeowners. Even better for them, we were able to do it all in just two and a half weeks. That allowed them to move straight in to their freshly renovated home!

Painting a Newly Purchased Home

Let’s begin downstairs in the living room. After we installed new trim, and refinished the floors, we painted the room a beautiful light grey. This is the room pictured above.

Now, into the dining room. First we installed new picture frame molding and refinished the hardwood floors. Afterwards, we painted molding and trim a crisp white and the walls a deep chocolate brown.

In the laundry room, we removed the upper cabinetry to open up the backdoor entryway. The linoleum floor in the laundry room and kitchen was replaced with hardwood flooring which we installed and stained. The laundry room was also painted.

In the kitchen, we cup sprayed the the cabinets a clean, crisp white. This really revives outdated cabinets without the cost or hassle of a full kitchen remodel.

Moving to the upstairs, we also made a number of cosmetic changes. In the children’s bedrooms we created two fun, distinct spaces to welcome them to their new home. In the boy’s room, we removed a dated wallpaper border. Then chair rail was installed and the room was painted in two colors. Crown molding was also added where the wallpaper had once lived.

We painted the girl’s bedroom a light pink. One accent wall was also created using color blocks with different pink hues. Carpenters installed crown molding here as well.

The hallway bathroom was given an update simply by removing the wallpaper and being painted white. Wallpaper and paint updates are quick and relatively inexpensive ways to make a big impact.

In the stairway, wallpaper was also removed.

Lastly, in the master bedroom we added crown and baseboard molding, refinished the floors and painted.
