Patched Floorboards from Leaked Radiator

Warped Floorboards Prior to Repair

A leaky radiator caused a lot of damage to this New Vernon, NJ living room floor. The floorboards right underneath the radiator were badly warped. Although not as badly damaged, additional flooring in the area was also damaged and needed to be removed. We patched floorboards and then refinished and stained the entire living room.

Patched Floorboards and Refinishing

Once a plumber had fixed the radiator to prevent any further damage, we came to assess the floors. We recommended new 4″ and 6″ oak planks. Firstly, our flooring crew would remove all the damaged floorboards. They replaced 60′ of damaged areas by patching in the new planks. We installed the new floorboards to blend in with the original layout of the planks.

To achieve a unified appearance, we sanded the entire living room floor. This would give us fresh wood to apply stain and poly. We stained the entire living room floor to give it a uniform color. The next day we applied an oil-based polyurethane to help protect the floors.

Now, these hardwood floors are looking as good as new.
