Project Info
Location: Mountain Lakes, NJ
Scope of Work: Railing replacement
The existing iron railings at this Mountain Lakes, NJ home were starting to pull out of the stone treads where they were installed. This was making them wobbly and in need of repair. The homeowners decided to take this opportunity to replace the worn railings and posts with a durable PVC material. They selected thicker posts and rails to give the exterior of their home an updated look.
Monk’s Method
This project began like most home improvement projects – removing something old and worn. The iron railings were all removed from the double stone stairways. We were careful to not cause any further damage to the stone surface.
Once the iron railings had been removed, we began by installing the new composite posts. Afterwards, the railings and balusters were installed. The homeowners selected an Intex railing system that is constructed from low-maintenance PVC. The square edge balusters and square edge posts gives the new railing a substantial and sturdy appearance.
While the type of Intex railing system selected did not require painting, the homeowners opted for a different color than the standard bright white. In order to match the exterior of their home, we primed and then painted the railing system a cream color.
Now, this home can confidently welcome guests with a safe and pretty railing system.
