A beautiful transformation in our

A beautiful transformation in our 1976 built home of 40 years from its varnished wood luan doors and closets to white doors with oil rubbed bronze hardware. Our project was to change every interior door in the house, four bypass closet doors, two bi-fold and eleven single doors. In addition, we contracted for painting the downstairs and upstairs hallway with trim.
We received a quote from Jon who explained how he thought the work would progress with painting and carpentry crews once we the picked the doors and hardware. As a do-it-yourselfer, I liked his through assessment of the work that was needed and how it would progress. We then met with Robert at Monk’s office in Morristown to go over door and hardware options. It took us some time to a select a door style, and hollow or solid, as well as hardware. Robert checked in with us from time to time, no pressure which we liked. Jon and Robert were really helpful and made us feel comfortable early on that we would use Monk’s. We felt confident they would start and stay with the work until done and do a quality job.
On the first day all the doors arrived and we were introduced to Alberto, the foreman, and some of his crew. They unpacked doors and the painting began, fortunately a beautiful early April day, as they painted the doors in our garage and dried them outdoors. There were twenty-one slabs to give a first coat of paint, the second after placing them. We were impressed that they put in an extra-long day to take advantage of the day’s weather in order to kick start the project as the next few were not good ones.
The following days of nonstop activity blurred as varying crews of 2-3 installed doors, spackled and painted and cleaned up at the end of each day. The installation of the doors on some were a challenge but they took the time to get them right so that each nicely fit when done. With a second coat of paint they sparkled and lightened up the hallway and rooms. The perfection of the wall prep was astounding, and really cleaned up the look of our the hallway. Each day Alberto stopped in to help out or to assess the progress and touch base with us on the next day’s plans. He and the crew were talented and efficient with attention to details. They clearly took pride in their work, and always with the goal of our being happy with the results.
We whole heartedly can say to anyone looking to do a home improvement project to talk to Monk’s and if on the fence as to using them or not, we recommend you fall off on their side of the fence.
Appreciatively Tom & Laura Denville.
