Location: Chatham, NJ
Scope of Work: Kitchen Renovation
This Chatham NJ kitchen, along with the adjoining rooms, were renovated by our team at Monk’s Home Improvements. The homeowner wanted to improve the flow between the kitchen, dining room and family room. By painting and repurpose her existing cabinetry, we were able to open the layout and achieve a brighter, lighter, space.
Firstly, we expanded the entrance into the dining room. The standard sized doorway was upgraded to a larger opening, improving the flow between the kitchen and dining rooms.
The kitchen sits on an elevated platform. Our team of carpenters removed part of a wall and closet in order to extend the platform (to the sunken family room). We reconfigured the kitchen by removing the half wall of cabinetry that separated the kitchen from the family room.
Many items in this kitchen reconfiguration were reused. For example, the existing hardwood flooring was patched and refinished. The existing cabinetry was also painted and reused in the newly revamped kitchen. The upper cabinetry from the hutch cabinetry was reused in the newly reconfigured kitchen, while the lower cabinetry was reinstalled in the family room as a TV console. Additionally, new cabinetry was installed for the new island.
Our team also installed new countertops, and a brand new farmhouse sink in the remodeled kitchen.
The stairs and railings leading down to the family room were also rebuilt and painted by our team at Monk’s.
