Monk’s Method
Our process is to handle all the messy work prior to sanding the floors. We remove all wallpaper, handle any demolition or heavy wall repair, complete any major carpentry and install the trim before the floors are started. We then handle the sanding, staining, sealing and the first coat of polyurethane before the painting. This dries very fast and then we protect your hardwood floors with paper and paint the interior of the house. When the painting is complete, we return to screen the floors one final time before applying the last coat of polyurethane. This leaves all the rooms with new polyurethane on the floors and new paints on the walls and ceilings. The only cleaning you will have to handle is in your kitchens and bathrooms.
The floors are very durable after they are sealed and have one coat of polyurethane on them. There is often a lot of dust during a paint job, so we vacuum and clean the floors before screening them. It adds a little bit of work to paint in the middle of the floor refinishing job, but ultimately we believe it gives you the best final product.
