Scope of work: Interior Carpentry, Wall Removal, Hardwood Floor Installation
Location: Morris Plains, NJ 07950
Timeline: 4 weeks with full inspections
This project started with our team removing the prefinished wide plank flooring in one of the rooms, and the carpet on the stairs. Once the prefinished flooring was removed it was discovered that our team would actually have to replace the subfloor before installing any new flooring on top of it. This room was positioned directly above the house’s boiler room. The area was not properly insulated and had caused the subfloor to warp.
The wall was removed and replaced with a temporary support frame to sure the space. The ductwork that had caused the original problem was removed and rerouted throughout other parts of the house.
Whenever a wall is removed it is important to ensure that the house is still properly supported. Our team at Monk’s installed a 1,450 lb I-beam with a flush header, to support this newly opened living space.
Brand new hardwood flooring was installed to replace the prefinished flooring that had been removed at the start of the project. The flooring was sanded and then stained. The previously adjoining dining room was also sanded and stained so that the floors would be the same color.
The stairs were also stained to match.
Another great project completed by our team at Monk’s!
