Morris Plains Master Bath Makeover

Morris Plains Master Bath Makeover

One of our most popular projects is the bathroom makeover. Typically a bathroom has limited space and expansion into adjacent areas isn’t an option.  Therefore, the footprint of the bathroom remains intact. This is what we refer to as a bathroom makeover. We make cosmetic changes like replacing vanities, tile, and showers, without making changes to the plumbing or electric.

This Morris Plains master bath makeover received a lovely facelift, while also improving the open feel in this small space.

First, the homeowners worked with a Designer in our kitchen and bath showroom. There they selected all of their materials including tile, the vanity, and the new frameless shower door. Our Designers will help you coordinate all your materials. If you are doing a full remodel, they will also create a new layout for your space.

Once all the materials were on site, our installation crew began their work. After they cleared the bathroom, the crew removed the soffit above the shower. The new shower would be open all the way to the ceiling. Removing the soffit gives the feeling of a larger space.

The crew removed the floor tile and replaced it with darker porcelain tiles. The darker grey color doesn’t show dirt, and also warms up the room. The installers also laid the shower floor tile. The homeowners selected a beautiful basket weave pattern. After the floor tile was set, the wall tile was installed. A basic white subway tile was used, but it was laid in a herringbone pattern. Using simple, typically less expensive tile in creative patterns is a great way to create visual interest while saving money. In addition to the subway tiles, two his-and-hers niche boxes were installed to hold shampoo and soaps. The final detail of the shower tile was the glass mosaic accent tile. Featuring various shades of grey, it ties into the floor tile nicely.

With the soffit gone, a frameless glass shower door was installed. The two side panels are fixed, with one hinged door in the center. The frameless door also helps the room feel more open and airy.

The vanity, toilet, mirror, and lights were all replaced.

In just two weeks, this Morris Plains master bath makeover was complete!
