This Chatham, NJ home was built in 1934 and has all the character and charm of a home built at that time. However, the homeowners also experienced some recent problems due to water damage. Once the source of the problems were addressed, Monk’s carpenters and painters took care of the rest. Now this classic home is as good as new.
Scope of Work: Wall Repair, Interior Painting, New Wainscoting
Location: Chatham, NJ
Water Damage Repairs and Painting
One source of water damage was from behind the pediment above the front door. Water had gotten behind the decorative trim and rotted the door frame and damaged the ceiling above the front door. The carpenters removed and replaced all damaged wood and walls. Then the painters patched, primed and painted the ceiling.
The second source of water damage came from the living room radiator. It leaked on the adjacent wall causing the paint to peel and damage to the wall. We removed the radiator and first repaired the wall behind it. Then, we patched, primed and painted the area. We replaced the radiator after each step, as it was cold and the homeowners needed the heat source.
Wainscoting in Hallway
In addition to completing the necessary repairs, we also upgraded the back hallway in the home. Our carpenters installed beadboard wainscoting. We framed the beadboard to give it the look the homeowners wanted. Then the painters primed the new wainscoting. They patched and prepped the walls above the wainscoting. Painters coated the hallway, ceiling and back door.
Now, both the front and back entrances are ready to receive guests!
