Location: Madison, NJ 07940
The owners of this Madison, NJ 07940 home called in our team at Monk’s with a unique request. This home had an exceptionally small half bathroom on their first floor. In order to create a powder room with more space the homeowners wanted to switch the half bathroom with the large walk in closet across the hall. In three weeks our team had transformed the existing half bath into a closet, and the existing closet into a half bath!
To begin the job our team had to entirely take apart both the half bath and the closet. The closet and half bath were positioned across the hall from one another. As you can see in this photo, the closet and half bath doors flanked the doorway.
electrical permits were required. The existing windows were removed and reframed with smaller windows, giving more room for the newly relocated bathroom. The entire space was stripped down to the studs and rebuilt as new spaces.
The existing closet was extended 18 inches to make it a larger space and better accommodate the amenities of a bathroom. Our team built a header for the new door.
New sheetrock and tile were both installed in the bathroom; along with a new floor and trim. Plumbing was installed to accommodate the newly installed toilet and sink.
The homeowners wanted the crown molding around the new bathroom door to match that in their living room; and as usual our team at Monk’s was more than happy to meet the homeowner’s request.
A few exterior changes were made as well to accommodate the changes happening on the inside. Some new windows, as mentioned before, and siding were installed, as well as a portion of new exterior trim.
