Project Description

Location: Madison, NJ

Scope of Work: Deck repair

Timeline: 3 days

While our Morris County, NJ customers escaped ocean flooding from Superstorm Sandy, she still caused a great deal of damage this far inland. Most of the repair work we’ve done after the storm has been related to uprooted trees falling onto homes and decks. Unfortunately for these homeowners in Madison, NJ 07940, a tree fell on their back deck causing considerable damage. We repaired the damaged railing and lattice using the same material as the existing deck and keeping with the existing style.

Monk's Method

Repairing a Deck

We carefully removed the damaged railing to protect the deck floor that was to remain.

This cracked post needed to be replaced with a brand new post that could bear the weight of the repaired deck.

One of our skilled carpenters is installing the new railing. You can also see the new weight-bearing post in the photo below.

In the process of replacing the damaged railing.

While the rebuilt railing and lattice was pressure-treated and stained to match the existing deck, the photos before the staining process best show how and where we repaired this damaged deck as you can see below.
