Scope of Work: Deck Wash and Stain
Town: Madison, NJ
Timing: 2 days
This decking project was a simple, straightforward job. The pressure-treated wood deck was ready to be re-stained. The homeowners selected an earthy, solid stain. Solid stain looks like paint. It goes on thicker than standard stain and is opaque once applied. Solid stain offers good protection from the sun and from moisture.
Solid Stain Applied to Wood Deck
With most deck refinishing and staining projects, the first step is cleaning the deck. Our painters use a pressure-washer to remove dirt, mildew, and flaking paint. For this project, the deck, adjoining planters, and separate planter area were all pressure washed.
We hand sanded the structures. This is done to remove any remaining loose paint. It also scruffs the surface which allows the stain to adhere better.
The solid stain is then applied. Our painters apply the stain by hand. This ensures a complete, solid coating.
In just two days this deck staining project was complete.
More Deck Staining Projects
What we’ve shown here is the most basic deck staining project. We can also completely refinish and restain wooden decks. This is where we sand your deck similar to how we’d sand hardwood floors. Additionally, we also reface decks with wood or composite material. Our carpenters can also design and build brand new decks.
