Sometimes we are called in to complete projects started by homeowners or other contractors. For this project, we were brought in to finish up a flooring project. Brand new hardwood treads and railings were already installed. We were asked to sand and stain the treads and railings in order to finish the project.

Stair Tread Sand and Stain
Monk’s provides new hardwood floor installation, as well as floor repair and refinishing. We were up to this straightforward task. We brought in our equipment which consisted of sanders as well as HEPA-filtered vacuums. This helps to make the sanding process nearly dust-free.
We began by sanding all of the treads. We also hand-sanded the handrail. After the sanding was complete, we thoroughly cleaned the surfaces. Next, we applied a light stain to the treads and handrail. This stain color was selected because it complements the other flooring and wood trim in the home. We then sealed the treads and handrail with coats of polyurethane. Lastly, we painted the staircase stringers.
Now, this stair tread sand and stain project is complete. Time to get to work on painting those walls.
