The railing of this Morristown, NJ 07960 home was damaged during Hurricane Sandy. The homeowners called our team at Monk’s to rebuild the railing, and replace other elements of the home’s exterior that were suffering from weather damage. In only three days a custom railing was built, the home’s front columns were replaced, as well as the attic vents.
First the original railing had to be completely removed from the house.
In order to rebuild the railing exactly as it originally was each piece was carefully measured and hand cut with precision to recreate the look of the home’s original railing.
The railing wasn’t the only thing being rebuilt for this home. The columns of this home’s facade had suffered inevitable water damage over years of being exposed to the elements.
To help prevent future water damage our team at Monk’s used azek to rebuild this Morristown home’s railing and front columns. Azek is a great choice for structures like these, which will inevitably be left to face all sorts of weather. Azek is moisture resistant and helps in protecting the structure by absorbing less water than a regular type of wood.
Like with the railing, these replacement columns had to be carefully measured and cut to match the existing structure.
While at work on this project our team also took the time to replace the damaged attic vents.
The new azek columns are installed, giving the home a crisp new look, while also protecting against future damages.
Because of the timing of this project the new structures will have to wait until the Spring for their final paint jobs.
